5 Tips For Helping You Pick Your Next Smartphone

Posted on

If you are in the market for a new smartphone, here are a few tips that will help you decide which phone will work best for you.

#1 Look At Your Previous Investments

If you already own a smart phone or tablet, and have spent money investing in software and material for a certain system, it is best to go with a phone that supports that type of system. For example, if you have purchased lots of Android apps and games, make sure that your next phone supports those same games. Or if you have an extensive iTunes library, an iPhone may be the way to go.

Look at the software, games, movie and music applications you are invested in and use that information to help you decide which phone to get next. If you have already invested hundreds in software, it makes sense to go with a phone that can use it.

#2 Examine What You Use The Most

Before you get a new smartphone, think about the features that you use on your current phone the most and use this information to help you prioritize the applications that you like and need. For example, if you take a couple hundred pictures a month, getting a phone with a great camera would be a smart investment. However, if you only take a few photos every couple of months, it doesn't make sense to spend money on a phone with an expensive camera when that is not a feature that you will be using.

If you do a lot of work on your phone, you may want to purchase one with a large screen. If you are away from home for hours at a time, battery life may be a bigger priority for you. Think about the features you like and need the most, and use those to help you narrow down your selection.

#3 Try It Out

Finally, the best way to determine which new smartphone is best for you is to try it out in the store. While you are trying it out, take it for a test drive and try out all the things that you like to do on your phone.

For example, if you like to listen to music while you work out on the phone, check out the speakers and see if you like the sound they produce. If you typically have three or four applications on at once, open up a lot of apps and see how easy it is to navigate between them and how the phone handles running multiple applications at one time. Or if you like to watch videos all the way home on the train, check out the video player and make sure that it plays videos at a quality that you like.

Check out and use the phone like you would your own to see if it will be the right fit for you. The key is to not purchase the most expensive phone, but instead to purchase the phone that fits your lifestyle and needs the best.
